The de Boo family

Geert (36) grew up as the middle son of 7 in a pastor’s family. After receiving his Master’s in Architecture at Delft University he worked as an urban designer in Amsterdam. The call to set time apart serving God full time as a missionary, brought him to Japan to work towards building a heavenly city by reaching out to the people in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

Eline (37) is the youngest of 6 kids and grew up in a Christian home on an island in the southwest of the Netherlands. Politics seemed to be the career to pursue, so after receiving her Master’s in Contemporary history from Leiden University she became a personal assistant to a Member of the Dutch Parliament. The networking skills and (speech) writing prove to be very useful tools in ministry now.

Geert and Eline met as teenagers in church and were inseparable ever after. They married in 1994 and the first crown on that union was Thom (10), born in Leiden, the Netherlands in 1999. He is a Third Grader at Christian Academy in Japan now and loves trains! He enjoys reading, drawing pictures, playing with trains, lego and playmobil. He is practicing on the piano and singing in the choir every week. When the de Boo-family spent time studying at Kuyper College in Grand Rapids, MI, in 2002, Berend (7) was born. He is a happy First Grader also at CAJ, learning to read. He is very creative and loves doing craft. Berend enjoys playing games, building with lego and playmobil. Like his brother he is learning to play the piano. Julie (3) was born in 2006 in Tokyo, Japan. She is as girly as can be, loving everything that is pink, flowery or cute in any other way. She enjoys playing with her doll, play food or princess duplo. Whenever she hears music, she dances and invites everybody around her to join her. Twin baby girls Fleur and Lucile were added to the de Boo family in 2009. The kids are trilingual, because they speak Dutch at home, English in the classroom and Japanese in church and on the street. They love Japanese food and feel very comfortable in Japan.
